Russian exile and Putin critic found dead in Britain


Mr Glushkov is believed to have been close friends with Russian businessman Boris Berezovsky, a reported enemy of Vladimir Putin.

"The death is now being treated as an unexplained", police said, adding that the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation as a precaution. She added that police removed several bags of evidence.

The cause of his death is not yet clear.

Glushkov's death was confirmed by Damian Kudryavtsev, a board member of the Moscow Times, in a Facebook post Tuesday.

Andrei Borovkov told Russian media outlets on Tuesday that his client, Nikolai Glushkov, was found dead inside his south London home and that he was unaware of the time and circumstances.

"If there is a change in the status of the investigation, an update will be provided", the Met said.

In an interview with The Guardian after Berezovsky's death, Glushkov said: "Boris was strangled".

A former deputy director of Aeroflot, Glushkov died at the age of 69, The Telegraph wrote citing a report by Russia's Business FM radio station with reference to Glushkov's lawyer.

Another Russian exile living in London was found dead late Monday night, just a little more than a week since a former Kremlin spy and his daughter were poisoned.

He later said he was told at the time that he would be killed on his way to court.

Mr Glushkov is survived by two children, Natasha and Dima, and an ex-wife who is thought to live in Moscow.

Glushkov moved to the United Kingdom in 2006 after a Moscow court sentenced him to a two-year suspended sentence for fraud in 2006.
