The guys at Snapchat seem to be playing around with a new feature, not yet rolled out, which copies the "tagging" feature from Instagram. However, the feature is not being rolled out to all users, and is now in the pilot phase, the company said to TechCrunch. When someone views this Snap, an option to avail more details will appear as a swipe up. Also, whoever gets tagged will receive a notification, so nothing will remain unseen.

When reports come out about a prequel the reaction is usually negative and the finished product leaves a lot to be desired. In the past Chase has been adamant that any work he'd do would be something he believes in.
The biggest omission in this new feature: It doesn't allow users to search for other accounts while constructing the mention, meaning that for now you'll have to know and enter the handle of the account you wish to tag by memory.
Apparently the new tagging system is now being rolled out - so be on the lookout!
