'Tomb Raider' Remastered Games Coming to Steam Free for Owners of Originals


The original games are there on Steam as well, however they can only run through an emulator, which brings forth a bunch of issues regarding performance, resolution and controls.

Realtech VR is also providing the remastered versions of the "Tomb Raider" games 1 to 3 for free to those who already own them via Steam.

Remastered versions of the games will support OpenVR and feature a new 3D engine for all 3 games.

Realtech VR are in charge of the remasters, having previously ported Tomb Raider 1 and 2 to mobile, and will base the Steam remasters on these versions. Owners of the original DOS Tomb Raider games on Steam will be happy to learn that they will receive the newly-remastered games for free when they release.

Realtech VR announced the news via Twitter. Basically the remasters will use the original games' install packages, and that is why the remasters will only be available on Steam, too.
