Valve will re-enter the game making business, so sayeth Gaben

We haven't heard anything about Valve's new VR games in over a year now, but it still sounds like they're coming. Thy lord Gaben hath descended from on high and proclaimed that Valve will actually be making games again. "That's sort of good news!"

Valve hasn't had a major game release since the launch of Dota 2 in 2013, and Portal 2 from 2011 was the last single-player game that came out of the studio.

Talking about the investment Valve has made in hardware and technology, Newell said that there was a "big hole" left in the market after the release of DOTA 2 that PUBG stepped in to fill.

Packers and Wilkerson Reported to Have Mutual Interest's Ian Rapoport reports free agent DE Muhammad Wilkerson will visit the Saints after leaving his Packers visit without a contract.

"Artifact is the first of several games that are going to be coming from us", said Newell, according to PC Gamer. We will have to wait and see if the new games that Newell mentioned will be VR titles, or something different entirely. The discussions surrounding another Portal game, and more importantly, Half-Life 3 are sure to flare up again now that Valve has officially announced they are moving back into the software space in a larger capacity. Still holding out hope for Half-Life 3?

Newell admitted "we've always been a little bit jealous of companies like Nintendo" in regards to the ability to simultaneously develop both the game and the system on which it's played.

"When Miyamoto is sitting down and thinking about the next version of Zelda or Mario, he's thinking what is the controller going to look like, what sort of graphics and other capabilities", explained Newell. "We thought that the strength of the PC is about its openness, so we started to make some investments to offset that", he said in reference to projects like SteamVR and the Vive headset. "That's something we've been jealous of, and that's something you'll see us taking advantage of subsequently".

Further, Joe Belfiore stated that there was confusion about this version of the OS from Microsoft's partners and consumers. It's also worth considering the timing of the next Windows 10 update , which probably means northern Autumn 2018.

Valve or Newell did not say anything about Half-Life 3 at any point during the presentation.

With Valve's new hardware chops, it seems like we can expect more than new games from the company.
