It was revealed that Aardman Animations is partnering up with StudioCanal and Pathe to start developing the next installment. To this day, Chicken Run is still the highest grossing stop-motion animated movie of all time, and now is apparently the time to make a sequel happen. Original writers Karey Kirkpatrick (Smurfs 2, The Spiderwick Chronicles) and John O'Farrell have reunited to write the screenplay. Directed by Nick Park and Peter Lord, the film features the voices of Mel Gibson, Julia Sawalha, Tony Haygarth, and Miranda Richardson. The movie grossed $106 million in the U.S. and $225 million worldwide. Loosely riffing on The Great Escape, the stop-motion classic followed chickens (voiced by a host of brilliant British actors) trying to escape a poultry farm, assisted by American cockerel voiced by Mel Gibson.
