He also claimed credit for convincing his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump to stay engaged in the conflict long-term. "We convinced him it was necessary to stay", Macron said in an interview broadcast by BFM TV, RMC radio and Mediapart online news.
"We can not tolerate banalization of use of chemical weapons, which is an immediate danger to Syrian people and to our collective security", Macron insisted in a statement issued at dawn on Saturday, following commencement of attack in Syria by Supposed use of chlorine gas against Duma's civilian population.
"A perfectly executed strike last night", Trump tweeted.
While it is unusual for a French president to present himself as driving US policy in military matters in the Middle East, Macron and Trump have developed a friendly relationship over the past year.
Alan Shearer Sends Warning To Premier League After City Title Win
City are 16 points clear of second placed United, who can only take a maximum of 15 points from their remaining five games. Antonio Valencia says he has seen improvement from Manchester United this season and expects them win more in 2018-19.
"Ten days ago, President Trump was saying the United States of America had a duty to disengage from Syria", Macron said during a two-hour grilling on French television, broadcast days after his government joined the US and Britain in launching strikes against alleged Syrian regime chemical weapons facilities.
And in a reference to Trump's raging on Twitter at Russian Federation over the possibility of strikes, Macron added: "The second thing is that we have also convinced him that he must limit his strikes to chemical weapons, at a time when there was a media furore via tweet, as I'm sure you noticed".
He reaffirmed that there was proof of chemical attacks, adding: "We had reached a point where these strikes were necessary to give back the (international) community some credibility". "He [Russian president Vladimir Putin] has understood it's not the case any more".
He also said "ten days ago President Trump wanted to withdraw from Syria".
Michy Batshuayi Provides Injury Update
Borussia Dortmund manager Peter Stoger fears Michy Batshuayi could face a "long time" on the sidelines. Wishing my teammates the best for the final days.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Sunday that France wants to launch a diplomatic initiative over Syria that would include Turkey, Russia and Western powers. "They have not used chlorine themselves but they have methodically built the worldwide community's inability to act through diplomatic channels to stop the use of chemical weapons", he said of Russian Federation. "We can not tolerate the banalisation of the use of chemical weapons, which is an immediate danger for the Syrian people and for our collective security".
Like Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May, Macron has faced a domestic backlash for striking Syria without consulting parliament, but he defended the move as well within his constitutional powers.
The 40-year-old leader said the U.S., Britain and France had "full global legitimacy to intervene" in order to enforce worldwide humanitarian law.
Man City crowned champions after West Brom defeated Manchester United
On an individual level, the likes of Pogba, Sanchez and Lukaku failed to produce the spark and unlock West Brom's stellar defence. City are worthy champions, having been head and shoulders above their neighbours as well as the rest of the league this season.
