Father, daughter found in submerged vehicle in Mendocino County river

Two more bodies of a family who disappeared after their vehicle drove off the road into a fast moving Eel River April 6 were recovered over the weekend along with the vehicle itself The search continues for the fourth missing family member. He was on a road trip in the maroon Honda Pilot from Portland, Oregon to San Jose in Southern California.

A tow truck was used to partially remove the vehicle from the river around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and searchers were then able to remove two members of the Thottapilly family: father Sandeep, 41, and his daughter Saachi, 9. After several hours of searching near the reported crash site, search teams found the Thottapilly vehicle submerged about 4-6 feet beneath the water. Autopsies are expected to be performed this week as part of the Coroner's investigation into the incident. This provided searchers the ability to conduct a visual inspection of the inside of the vehicle.
