Indians softball splits doubleheader, goes to 7-1

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Cosgrove hit a leadoff double to center field before crossing home plate on a Nuckols groundout. Minot State added another run in the third on Isis Cabral's single.

In the bottom of the frame, Jaclyn Cortese led off with a single and the Ravens quickly got runners on second and third for Allison Shaw to drive home Cortese from third.

Region under upgraded "moderate" threat for severe weather today

Jason Krar started on the mound and was credited with his first win of the season after going six innings with five strikeouts, allowing just a walk.

After Kaiti White struck out the side in order in the top of the first inning, the Lady Lions scored 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. Ricker was called out with a grounder to third base putting Casey on second and Carly Rennie (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy) on first with two outs. Morhaus was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs in her first start of the season. Hastings singled to right field to send Ecker across home plate.

The Warriors made things interesting in the fifth inning when Sarah Taheny (2 for 2) led off with a double and scored on a passed ball.

Louis softball team stepped out of non-conference play and posted a doubleheader sweep at Greenville University on Thursday afternoon in Greenville, Ill. Other than a 5-4 victory over Sandburg, all of its triumphs were by four or more runs.

Allison O'Rourke also went 2-for-3 for Amboy. Tanya Chavez was 3-3 with 1 RBI.
