The investigation into Ecker started in January when the Wakulla County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office learned the child may have been involved with using both drugs. She did admit that she smoked marijuana the night before and that she did meth four months earlier. Police even found a plastic bag containing marijuana residue located within a basket containing children's toys.

That very same day, police took a blood and hair sample from Ecker's child, which were forwarded to a laboratory.

Detectives were told that Ecker allowed the child to smoke methamphetamine with a pipe and that she used the drug herself. Additionally, on Thursday, she was charged with lewd and lascivious battery and transmission of harmful material to a minor in connection with a separate, unrelated case, according to police. Wakulla County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Jared Miller told Oxygen.com on Friday afternoon that the mother is still in jail awaiting her first appearance. Instead, Limpert "proceeded to place [the child] into their backyard pool to use the cold water to "shock" her", the police report said.

The 30-year-old, who has been working at the YMCA for three years in the infant center, admitted to having a history of drug use with heroin and opioids. She also denied ever smoking or ingesting drugs in the presence of the two-year old and denied any knowledge of the child being exposed to drugs. At that point in questioning, police say she requested an attorney.
