Police say Woman who Drove SUV with Family off Cliff was Drunk

Hannah Hart, 16; Devonte Hart, 15; and Sierra Hart, 12, have not been found.

Police have said a search of the family's home in Woodland, Washington, turned up no suicide note.

The five bodies were recovered days after authorities in Washington State began investigating the couple for possible child neglect. That first report indicated that the agency acted because it believed the "living situation is immediately risky or unhealthy".

One of their children, Abigail, told Minnesota authorities in 2010 that Jennifer Hart withheld food from her when she misbehaved, according to a police report.

OR officials would not discuss what child welfare workers learned when they went to check on Markis, Hannah, DeVonte, Jeremiah, Abigail and Sierra after Argyropoulos reported the parents.

Jennifer Hart was drunk when she drove her wife and six adoptive children off a Northern California cliff last month in what is believed to have been an intentional plunge off a scenic Pacific Ocean overlook, authorities said Friday.

By the next morning, the Harts had left town.

After the March 23 visit, investigators went back three days later. She was convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault and received a 90-day suspended jail sentence after the 2011 incident.

But what most alarmed Argyropoulos was that Hart repeatedly withheld meals from the children, who appeared constantly hungry. The bodies may have been swept away by the ocean.
