It looks like Ubisoft is preparing to bring Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher back into the spotlight this year, starting off with a guest appearance in Ghost Recon Wildlands.

This special operation will see Sam Fisher attempt to infiltrate a heavily guarded camp at night.

Whether you love or hate DLC, it does continue the life of games long after launch and now we know some of what is coming for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands in its second year. Splinter Cell is the theme of this first Year 2 content drop, which is exciting on its own, but most notable is that Fisher is voiced by Michael Ironside.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is getting a crossover event with Splinter Cell. The PvE challenge can be played solo or cooperative with up to four players.

After completing the special mission, players will be rewarded with exclusive items such as Sam's iconic sonar goggles with a new night-vision filter and more. Ubisoft says that the mission will be in the game going forward, but the rewards you can collect are only available during the Special Challenge (which ends on May 16th).

A "Splinter Cell Gear Pack" has been added to the game including a themed Karambit Knife and assault rifle as well as numerous customization items. You may want to know that it is one of the most hard missions of the game. Last weekend Ubisoft first teased the mission with a short video clip, but now the cat's been let out of the bag as far as the actual operative goes.
