Tornado WATCH until 6 am

Some of the storms have been strong, and the National Weather Service in Huntsville issued severe thunderstorm warnings for some counties earlier this morning. The weather service issued the watch at 10:10 this morning.

Days and weeks like this are crucial to making sure the National Weather Service is communicating with the county's siren system so they can effectively warn people when tornadoes are in the area.

The immediate forecast does not include the spring and summertime hazard, but rather a significant winter storm expected to arrive Friday afternoon. The system was moving over states like MS and Alabama on Saturday, he said.

Sirens will blare at 1:45 p.m. and at 6:45 p.m. Thursday as the weather service issues simulated tornado warnings as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota. The main threats are looking to be more high winds and large hail, but an isolated tornado or two can't be ruled out.

High temps will be about 40 Friday than drop below freezing and into the 20s Friday night, then staying around freezing Saturday and Sunday. Winds in the 30 to 50 miles per hour range are being forecast for much of MI.

Also in Jefferson Davis County, another tornado traveled for nearly five miles cutting a path through trees for almost five miles just to the northeast of New Hebron.

The risk for severe weather runs from roughly noon Saturday across far west Alabama to 8 a.m. Sunday across far east Alabama.
