Toronto Raptors vs. Washington Wizards, 4-27

Trailing 87-82 with 8:52 left to play in the game may have had Toronto fans saying to themselves "here we go again". Updates with new lead. It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't happen in Game 5 in Toronto. Kyle Lowry played well in game five, sinking 17 points along with 10 assists for his second double-double of the series.

Toronto rebounded after losing Games 3 and 4 on the road to take a 3-2 series lead back to Washington for Game 6 on Friday night.

The backcourts have battled throughout the series, and the home team has prevailed each time.

But a 6-0 run gave the Raptors the lead and they didn't look back.

In the regular season, Porter averaged 14 points per game. "Even though we didn't play much with that lineup this year, we all understand all our capabilities, when guys line up out there, what we're all capable of doing offensively and defensively, and it showed tonight".

"Everybody stepped up, Delon stepped up big". I think the biggest thing was all five of us communicated and we just got after it.

But Wednesday night Wright closed out the game in attack mode, drilling a fourth-quarter trey, finishing an alley-oop and sinking two free throws after a drive to the basket that drew a foul on Wizards star John Wall.

"Y'all have seen how we play when our backs are against the wall". Normally that would be a recipe for disaster, but Toronto was able to not only survive - they were able to pull away late in the fourth for the win.

"The key was Jonas did a good job of moving his feet, guarding [Markieff] Morris, guarding their small lineup, which was huge".

Wall had 26 points, and Bradley Beal added 20 for the Wizards. Toronto has drilled at least 11 three-pointers in four of five games in this series, and they have also received a solid contribution from several players. Raptors' leading scorer DeMar DeRozan came through with one of his best performances of the series in the winning effort, accumulating 32 points on 12 for 24 shooting.

"We felt like we let one slip away", Wall said, per Youngmisuk.

The Raptors chose to stick with their veteran big man down the stretch and it paid major dividends as Valanciunas had six points in the fourth quarter, but more importantly it was his presence in the paint on both ends that was the key as he had some big rebounds and even made some plays in pick-and-roll defense (not known as his strong suit) in crunch time. The Wizards shot a poor 41.1% from the field, including a poor 5 for 26 mark from beyond the arc, and they were able to out-rebound the Raptors by a wide 50-35 margin.

"We took the shots that we normally take, and there's nothing abnormal about it", Casey said after the game. After a Kelly Oubre Jr. three put Washington up 33-31, the Raptors went on a 12-3 run, holding the Wizards without a field goal for over five minutes and stretching their lead to as large as seven.
