The CBI has, however, refused to take the June 22 2017 medical report as well as alibi of the arrested BJP MLA as a "ploy" so far saying that the investigation was on and the agency was collecting evidences to reach conclusions in the case.

The case came into limelight after the victim and her family tried to set themselves ablaze in front of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's house last week. According to the post-mortem examination report, he had suffered serious injuries. In rape cases, victims are often pressured into withdrawing the charge.
