Football coach shot three times trying to stop IN school shooter

President Donald Trump on Saturday praised an IN middle-school teacher as a hero for tackling a student who opened fire IN a classroom Friday, leaving one student IN critical condition.

Jeremie Lovall said his daughter, a seventh-grader at the IN school, was IN the classroom when the shooting unfoled shortly after 9 a.m.

Seaman, now a science teacher at Noblesville West Middle School in IN, is being hailed as a hero for reportedly helping to subdue a shooter at the school on Friday.

According to a social media profile, Seaman, who is married and has two young children, also coaches football for the seventh-grade team.

While it seems as though school shootings are happening more and more, it's factually true.

Barnes said the shooter was apprehended inside or near the classroom in which the shooting took place, and a number of search warrants have been issued for the suspect.

Jeremy Seaman said his brother was three-sport high school athlete in Mahomet, Illinois. "I went into this little room in the back with three other people", he said.

Molly Miles, a Noblesville High School freshman, told the IndyStar that she remembered Seaman telling the class that he would keep them safe in the event of a shooting. "A teacher going directly towards a student with a gun and saying I'm going to stop this. Wow".

The shooting happened one week after two teachers and eight students were killed, and 10 other people were wounded in a shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

His mother, Kristi Seaman, posted on Facebook that her son was out of surgery and is "doing well".

"I just want to get my arms around my boy", she said.

"First of all, thank you to the first responders from Noblesville and Fishers for their immediate action and care", Seaman said.

Seaman's brother, Jeremy Seaman, told The Indianapolis Star that his brother was shot three times and was undergoing surgery. The suspect was "apprehended in the classroom or in that area", police public information officer Bruce Barnes said.

As parents tried to comfort their teens, we learned more about the injuries at the school and how it could have been so much worse.

Vice President Mike Pence, who was governor of IN before becoming vice president, offered his thoughts and prayers to Noblesville West Middle School. The Florida attack inspired students across the United States to call for more restrictions on access to guns.

The school underwent training for an active shooter scenario at the end of March.

"Our thoughts are with all those affected by this frightful situation", Holcomb said.

"There is a male student at Noblesville West Middle School who has been detained".

And state broadcaster RTÉ , in a separate survey, found Irish voters rejecting the 8th Amendment 69.4 percent to 30.6 percent. Official counting is due to begin on Saturday morning, with a result expected late in the afternoon.
