Meghan Markle's father not attending royal wedding


Earlier this month, Kensington Palace announced that Thomas Markle was scheduled to walk Meghan down the aisle on her May 19 wedding to Prince Harry.

Samantha Markle previously revealed she was "culprit" who urged their father to stage the photos in an ill-fated bid to improve his image.

To add to things, Thomas unfortunately suffered a heart attack six days ago.

Thomas Markle has reportedly decided he is not going to his daughter's wedding.

A spokesman said: "This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding".

There is no royal protocol to prevent Doria Ragland, Meghan's mother, from walking her daughter down the aisle.

TMZ reported that Markle Sr meant no harm to his daughter or the royal family when he allowed the photo agency to take the pictures and that he had not been motivated by money.

According to The Sun, the 22-year-old and her older sister Marina - granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth II's cousin, the Duke of Kent - have not been invited to the Royal Wedding. The nearby town of Windsor is expected to play host to some 5,000 members of the media and 100,000 well-wishers during the wedding, though it would appear these super fans are not representative of the country as a whole. Although it is unclear if Thomas Markle was paid for the photos, the pictures were sold for about $100,000 around the world. Harry and Markle have invited 600 guests to the wedding, which will be followed by a gala reception hosted by the queen.

There was no independent confirmation that Mr Markle had been ill, however.

The couple are due to Wednesday this Saturday, 19 May.
