New Snapchat Redesign Fixes Some Of The Annoying Changes

The app will now put snaps and chats back into chronological order-instead of sorting content by popularity-and Stories will move back to the right-hand side of the application, according to The Verge.

Snap has announced that it has begun rolling out a redesign to its Snapchat app to the "majority" of iOS users. Snapchat's slowing growth and lower-than-expected revenue are, in part, likely due to the app's redesign disappointing another key group: millennials. The tweaks to the app, Snap hopes, will appease dissatisfied users and bolster engagement with the social media platform.

Subsequently, Snap acknowledged that the "new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many", with the latest update being an attempt to address numerous requested changes. The company's stock price fell after celebrities, such as Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Teigen criticized the app on Twitter too.

It's rare for companies to row back on redesigns, but Snapchat succumbed to pressure after over one million users signed a petition.

But the public outcry left Snap's advertisers skittish. That petition, started in the United Kingdom, grew to more than 1.2 million signatures: too big to ignore. At present, only 25% of United States consumers aged 18-34 say they've discussed Snapchat in the past two weeks. Reaching a Satisfaction score of 27 in late January, millennials who identify as Snapchat users gave the brand a low score of 12 in mid-April. During the company's earnings report earlier this month, chief executive Evan Spiegel said the overhaul hurt Snap's financial prospects.

The company says that it still has work to do to improve the new layout.
