Prosecutors: 10 "tortured" kids waterboarded, shot with crossbow

"On a continuous basis the children were getting punched, strangled, bitten, shot with weapons such as crossbows and bb guns, hit with weapons such as sticks and bats, subjected to "waterboarding" and having scalding water poured on them," according to the motion filed by prosecutors and obtained by AFP.

The allegations have been a part of prosecutors' try to have the kids's mom Ina Rogers' bail elevated after she was charged with 9 counts of felony youngster abuse on Wednesday.

Her husband, Jonathan M. Allen, 29, faces seven counts of torture and nine counts of child cruelty with the possibility of injury.

Her 10 children were rescued from their squalid home in Fairfield, in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, on 31 March after she reported her eldest child, aged 12, missing. Once they arrived, they immediately became concerned for the safety and health of the children and made a decision to search the property-that's when they discovered nine more children, "living in squalor and unsafe conditions".

Nine more children, ranging in age from 4 months to 11 years old, were found inside and the missing boy was located soon after asleep under a nearby bush.

Judge William J. Pendergast agreed with the deputy district attorney's request to set bail at $495,000, saying Rogers "may not be a danger to the public at large, but these charges make clear she is a danger to the children".

Additionally, the auto maker will then be able to avoid the high import tariffs that China imposes - especially on USA made cars . The move follows an earlier report that Tesla would unveil the location of a new Chinese "Gigafactory" as early as next quarter.

Rogers has denied her children were abused.

This is a developing story.

And Rogers, out on bail while her husband appeared in court on 15 felony charges Monday, gave reporters an open-house tour of what she insisted was a loving if unconventional home. All 10 children were taken into protective custody by Solano County Child Welfare Services.

The mother was arrested March 31, the same night her son was returned to her, and booked into Solano County Jail for alleged child neglect.

"I can't believe we're going through this, my whole family, this is a nightmare", she said. He had been angry because Allen and Rogers had tried to take away his tablet computer, Rogers said, according to the AP. He was ordered held in lieu of about $5 million bail.

The father of the 10 children removed from their California home is speaking out for the first time.

A spokesman for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Atilla's conviction on five charges a "scandalous verdict". Atilla, who headed global banking at Turkiye Halk Bankasi AS , remains employed by the bank, according to his lawyers.

Juarez alleges Rogers assisted in the abuse and "dissuaded the children" from reporting their injuries, which included broken arms.

While police claimed some of the abuse was carried out for a "sadistic" goal, they have declined to reveal what that abuse entailed.

When police arrived at the couple's home in March the children did not need medical attention but eight of them said they had been abused in the past few weeks.

On Friday, Allen was also arrested and charged with nine counts of felony torture and six counts of felony child abuse.

Allen denied the allegations in an interview with KCRA-TV on Tuesday, declaring "I am not an animal". Away from their parents, the children revealed a history of severe physical and emotional abuse, police said. They were also physically abused for a "sadistic objective", said Solano County Chief Deputy District Attorney Sharon Henry.

The children had been home-schooled and were seen outside so rarely that some neighbors were shocked to learn more than a few lived at the house. She called Allen a monster.
