Rumour: Retro Studios Has Another Project In Development Alongside Star Fox

While we already knew renowned developer Retro Studios isn't working on Metroid Prime 4, it looks like the Texas-based video game developer is creating a new Star Fox title dubbed Star Fox Grand Prix for the Nintendo Switch, according to new leaks.

When Metroid Prime 4 was announced a year ago at E3, the conclusion most came to was that Retro Studios was working on it.

The other is that Retro Studios hasn't released a new game since 2014's Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and since the recent Switch port wouldn't have taken them long that means they've had over four years now to cook up a new game. It's supposedly called Star Fox Grand Prix, and right now it seems just about as plausible as Half-Life 3 making its debut at E3 2018.

Rumors of the game have been swirling for several months in light of talk from some sources that Retro Studios' title has been struggling, with many at both Retro and Nintendo growing frustrated with the state of the project.

Now, while that would usually fill us with a TON of joy, as they could revive the series in a way that Star Fox Zero could not, there's a twist on this tale. And if that's the case, Nintendo is nearly certain to pulled the curtain back on the project at E3 next month.
