Superman Star Margot Kidder Dies at 69

Actress Margot Kidder, who played Lois Lane in the original Superman movies, passed away this weekend.

Funeral arrangements are pending, according to Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston, Montana. A manic episode left Kidder disoriented and living rough for a few days in Los Angeles, an experience she went on to discuss publicly as she advocated for mental health issues.

Superman, directed by Richard Donner and released in 1978, was a superhero blockbuster two decades before comic book movies became the norm at the top of the box office.

It is cited as an essential inspiration by makers of modern day Marvel and DC films.

Apart from Superman films, she was also known for cult classics like Black Christmas and Sisters.
