Twitter update hides tweets posted by trolls

Twitter announced Tuesday that it will implement new changes aimed at downplaying the visibility of "trolls" on its platform.

Twitter's troll problem has not improved, despite various measures taken by the company.

This includes people who have repeatedly tweeted at users who do not follow them, those who have often been blocked by other members of the site, or those who set up multiple accounts at once.

Twitter is turning to a new tactic in the company's long-running battle against internet trolls: hiding their posts from view.

Uber ends mandatory arbitration for sexual assault, harassment claims
Not long after he took the job late previous year , he wrote his own blog post in which he proclaimed: "We do the right thing". Hearings have the trappings of a court hearing-arbitrators are often retired judges-except that they are wholly private.

An updated algorithm will push tweets from these accounts further down the search results and replies, but won't delete them from the platform as they don't necessarily violate the rules. Twitter says that abuse reports were down 8% in conversations where this feature was being tested.

The changes are a part of Twitter's efforts to increase the "health" of its platform. Now, we're tackling issues of behaviors that distort and detract from the public conversation in those areas by integrating new behavioral signals into how Tweets are presented.

Twitter has revealed that it is using new tools, including machine learning, to identify signals that indicate when trolls are about to ruin a conversation.

"That means fewer people are seeing Tweets that disrupt their experience on Twitter", the post said. "Because this content doesn't violate our policies, it will remain on Twitter, and will be available if you click on "Show more replies" or choose to see everything in your search setting".

Facebook goes after apps that access its users' data, suspends 200
Three million user accounts have reportedly been compromised in a new Facebook data leak incident. You can imagine what the biz will be saying about the MPs' response to today's 40-page reply.

The signals will now be considered in how Twitter organizes and presents content in communal areas, like conversation and search, according to the duo.

Gasca and Harvey don't say whether the proclaimed troll tweets would be demoted for everyone, or just for specific users they've been known to target.

"This technology and our team will learn over time and will make mistakes", the post said. Our goal is to learn fast and make our processes and tools smarter.

This is to improve the health of the conversation and improve everyone's Twitter experience. Although Twitter already has many guidelines in place that prevent harassment, Dorsey explained that Twitter's moderators will now be filtering tweets that display any abuse, making them appear less frequently in the feed.
