Utah man jailed in a Venezuela for two years to be released

"I'm pleased to announce that after two years of hard work, we've secured the release of Josh and [his wife] Thamy Holt, who are now on their way home to the United States from Venezuela", Hatch, R-Utah, tweeted Saturday. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, who said Holt soon would be reunited with "his sweet, long-suffering family" in Riverton, Utah.

They were expected to arrive in Washington on Saturday evening and join Holt's family at the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump said on Twitter. Hatch issued a statement on Twitter saying Holt's release followed two years of lobbying and that Holt's wife Thamy would be accompanying him home.

"It was a very good meeting, it is good news for the Venezuelan people", Venezuelan Information Minister Jorge Rodriguez told reporters, though he did not provide an account of the meeting.

The details of what led to Holt's release were not immediately clear.
