Singapore: Security tight ahead of Trump-Kim summit

This will be the first summit of its kind between a leader of North Korea and a sitting US president.

The formal document signing followed a series of meetings at a luxury Singapore resort.

"People call it a historic summit is important to understand that this summit was available to any U.S. president who wanted to do it and the point is no USA president wanted to do this, and for good reasons", said Christopher Hill, a former lead United States nuclear negotiator with North Korea.

Trump and Kim landed in a city teeming with media and onlookers of all stripes, from foreign policy analysts like Kelly and Enos to former basketball star Dennis Rodman, who claims to be a friend of the two leaders. Responding to questions, he said "absolutely" he would invite Kim to the White House.

That part of the summit could be crucial.
