YouTube Music is expanding to 12 new countries

YouTube is the internet's biggest video site, with more than 1.8 billion accounts tuning in every month. YouTube also snuck in today's announcement that you can get three months of YouTube Music for free ($9.99 per month for a single account, $14.99 per month for a family plan after the free period runs out).

YouTube has also said that anyone in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and South Korea can sign to YouTube Music.

YouTube Premium launched in a dozen new worldwide territories Monday, making breakout streaming hit "Cobra Kai" and other original content available in countries including the United Kingdom and other European nations.

While the regular version of YouTube Music is ad-supported, there is a premium version that provides ad-free streaming, streaming in the background (which means that when you open another app, the streaming won't stop). That's on top of the £12 fee for Google Play Music/YouTube Music (if you already had GPM you get YTM by default).

Current YouTube Red and Google Play Music members (including family plans) in the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico will automatically receive access to YouTube Premium at their current price.
