Charles Oakley arrested for allegedly cheating at casino


Casino regulators in Nevada are accusing former New York Knicks star Charles Oakley of gambling fraud.

While it is unclear which game Oakley was participating in, TMZ reports that he attempted to pull back a $100 chip after realizing he was going to lose.

"Oak was confronted about the incident - and it was kicked over to a security team which reviewed the casino video footage ... confirming the alleged cheating". The Clark County Detention Center confirmed Oakley had been arrested but has since been released.

Oakley was arrested by Nevada Gaming Control Board Enforcement Agents at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. If convicted of a first offense, the violator is subject to a sentence of 1-6 years in a state prison and a fine of no more than $10,000.

In 1999 he was traded to the Toronto Raptors for Marcus Camby before playing out his remaining National Basketball Association days with the Houston Rockets in 2004.

Oakley now is the head coach of the Killer 3's in the IG3 basketball league and a source close to him states, "This is an insignificant matter that will be quickly resolved".

Oakley played for the Knicks from 1988 until 1998, helping them reach the 1994 NBA Finals alongside Patrick Ewing, John Starks, the late Anthony Mason and head coach Pat Riley.

Oakley was arrested on three counts of assault for his fight with the security guards and another for criminal trespassing.
