Chelsea confirm Maurizio Sarri as new manager

Sarri was widely expected to be the next man in the Stamford Bridge dugout after a successful spell in Naples, where his exciting brand of attacking football helped secure successive Champions League qualifications.

Former Napoli manager Maurizio Sarri has joined Chelsea as head coach on a three-year term, the Premier League club said on Saturday.

Sarri arrives at Stamford Bridge after three impressive years at Italian club Napoli, but will take over at a club facing an uncertain future at boardroom level following Roman Abramovich's United Kingdom visa issues.

The 27-year-old started all three games for Senegal at the World Cup with the African nation only exiting the tournament on fair play rules behind Japan, and attention for him could now turn to his club future.

Speaking to his new club's official website, Sarri said: "I am very happy to be coming to Chelsea and the Premier League". "It is an exciting new period in my career".

Conte is now chasing his £9m pay-out for being dismissed before the end of his contract, while Sarri gets to work on pre-season.
