Driver identified in crash that killed New Jersey father, 4 daughters


On their way back to New Jersey, however, tragedy struck on a DE highway, as a horrific auto crash took the lives of five of the six Trinidad family members - including all four daughters.

Her husband, 61-year-old Audie Trinidad, and their daughters - Kaitlyn, 20, Danna, 17, and Allison and Melissa, who were 13-year-old twins - all died when a Ford F-350 truck crossed a median on State Route 1 Highway in DE and struck their minivan, according to WPIX. The children were identified as 20-year-old Kaitlyn, 17-year-old Danna and 13-year-olds Melissa and Allison. Hubbard was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

According to an initial investigation, the incident took place on Friday "at approximately 3:47 p.m.", and involved three cars: a 2007 Ford F-350 - which was traveling southbound - a 2002 Mercury Sable, and a 1998 Toyota Sienna, which were both traveling northbound.

His passenger, a 30-year-old male from Hurlock, MD, was properly restrained and was also transported to a local area hospital where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

Delaware State Police identified the father as 61-year-old Audie Trinidad of Teaneck, New Jersey.

"She knows they are all gone, but she is under heavy sedation, so it's not sinking in yet", said Audie's brother, Daniel Trinidad.

Family members said Trinidad grew up in the Philippines and had come to the United States in 1987. Mary Rose Ballocanag was reportedly still in critical condition on Saturday night.

Just hours before the crash, Audie sent his brother pictures of the crabs they were eating for lunch before heading back home to Teaneck, New Jersey. "This guy took it all away", said the girls' uncle, Danny Trinidad, 59, from the family's Teaneck, N.J., home.

'I see out of my left eye the vehicle crazily swerving out of control on the grass median. When I found out, I just couldn't believe it at first.

A Go Fund Me page has raised $39,000 for the family so far.
