A deal worth an initial £14.1million (€16m) is understood to have been agreed. The versatile defender is ready to call it quits on his time at Old Trafford as he seeks more playing time, something that he is sure to not get under Jose Mourinho.

Blind arrived at United in the summer of 2014 after some impressive performances at the World Cup, as he helped Louis van Gaal's Dutch side reach the semi-finals before following the experienced tactician to Old Trafford.

However, Blind struggled for form and fitness last season and barely featured during Mourinho's second season at the club.

United kept clean sheets in all of his starts, but with just one year left to run on his contract, a sale had been mooted for several months.

In 4 years in England, he has made 144 appearances, winning the EFL Cup, FA Cup, Community Shield and Europa League.

Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar said told Omnisport on Sunday that he was excited about the imminent arrival of the fan favourite.

The committee was expected to take five days to consider the request, which China and Russian Federation are expected to block. But a USA military official familiar with the matter said last month it was not clear what North Korea might hand over.

"I never asked to leave United and have enjoyed my time there, but everyone know what Ajax means to me and we wait to see what happens", stated Blind.

I think Daley is a fantastic player. The Dutchman has served as a competent utility player for United over four years, performing well in defensive midfield as well as central defence and left-back.
