Microsoft’s rumored $400 Surface tablet is now expected to launch this week

Microsoft has a new and affordable tablet in town: welcome the Microsoft Surface Go, a 10-inch tablet with the Windows experience on board, support for a pen, a neat adjustable hinge and a few other extras.

Lighter and smaller than the Surface Pro, the Surface Go features dimensions of 9.6-by-6.9-by-0.3 inches and weighs just 1.2 pounds.

It'll be notable if the tablet does have a USB-C port, since previous Surface tablets required a proprietary Microsoft adapter for charging and data.

In order to compare the new Surface Go to the iPad, let's first take a look at the families of Surface devices and iPads to understand which iPad should we compare it to.

Former Trump chauffeur sues, claiming years of unpaid overtime
He received just two raises over the past six years, but his 2010 raise "came with a catch, Cintron said". Cintron's suit seeks $178,200 in overtime pay and $5,000 in penalties under New York's labor law.

The Surface Go is still more expensive than the cheapest iPad, but the Go tablet is compatible with professional features, like the detachable keyboard, that are missing on the entry-level iPad. Right now, Microsoft is only offering the Surface Go with Wi-Fi connectivity, with LTE models scheduled to go on sale later this year. The USB-C port can be used for charging the tablet as well as connecting other USB-C devices. A $549 version - $599 for commercial buyers - includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

An official document leaked by a Reddit user indicates that the device might possibly be launched this week, along with a new Type Cover.

Microsoft's budget Surface tablet is allegedly meant to land at around $400 (about £300), making for a significant price difference from the £650+ Surface Pro range.

On Monday, the company teased the upcoming product with a tweet that said "Where will Surface go next?"

President Donald Trump: "Well, it's still-let's say it's the four people, but-and they're excellent, every one". The New York Times reports she says she would like to see the scope of abortion rights changed.

A couple of months back we reported that Microsoft might be working on a low-priced Surface tablet. Too bad the bezels around the screen are so chunky they make the Surface Go's design look a bit dated.

The Surface Go runs Windows 10 S, a version of Windows that will only run apps found in the Microsoft Store - a walled-garden approach much in the same vein as Apple. Microsoft has promised an LTE model will come later this year, though. A Surface Pen will set you back another $99.

The availability of accessories globally is yet to be confirmed, but you'll be able to get a black Surface Go Type Cover for $99 (around £75, AU$130), with red, blue or silver "Signature" Alcantara Type Covers costing $129 (around £100, AU$170). Microsoft today also unveiled the Surface Mobile Mouse with Bluetooth pairing for $35.

Microsoft quietly has shifted its goal for Surface hardware from carving out new niches which can be exploited by Microsoft and its OEM partners, to expanding the overall market for Surface.
