As announced by Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the best players in the history of the club, has departed Spain for a move to Juventus.

The numbers speak for themselves, as Ronaldo won four Champions League trophies, two LaLiga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and two Supercopa de Espana trophies.

Widespread reports now suggest that Madrid and Juve have agreed on a price, which is in excess of £100m - more than the £88m that had been widely reported over the weekend.

"These have been nine absolutely marvelous years".

The signing of the latest Ballon d'Or victor and top scorer in the Champions League for the last six seasons represents a major coup for Juve, who have had a stranglehold on the Italian title since 2012 but have not won Europe's top prize since 1996.

Ronaldo, 33, spent nine years with Real Madrid, becoming the club's all-time leading goal scorer and capturing four Champions League titles with the club during that time.

After nine years at the Bernabeu, the Portuguese superstar is Italy-bound, as he will join the seven-time defending Serie A champions. It's widely accepted that Ronaldo will sign a four year deal with the Italian side, earning an astonishing €30 million per season in Turin.

"Beyond the conquered titles, the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved in the playing fields during these nine years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement".

Real Madrid has won a place in my heart and in the hearts of my family, and for that I want more than ever to say thank you: thank you to the club, to the president, to the board, to my teammates, to all the coaches, physios and fantastic employees that make everything work and who are tirelessly attentive to every detail.

In a heartfelt open letter, he wrote: "These years in Madrid, and in this city of Madrid, have been possibly the happiest of my life".

Ronaldo beat Real Madrid's previous No. 7, Raul, who managed to find the back of the net 323 times. "I came here to win titles", the 24-year-old told reporters. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Ronaldo's Juventus debut could come in the MLS All-Star Game on August 1 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
