Supreme Court nominations made, Trump may have none to go

The records also showed that Kavanaugh, a federal appellate judge nominated by President Donald Trump to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, had between $45,000 and $150,000 in credit card debt in 2016, which was paid off by the following year.

Just hours after his dramatic White House East Room announcement as Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh was on Capitol Hill Tuesday beginning the traditional process of paying courtesy calls on the senators who will vote on his confirmation.

Much of the Washington Post piece is devoted to emphasizing that, if confirmed, Kavanaugh may be the least wealthy member of the Supreme Court.

If confirmed, Kavanaugh and the court might have to consider a lawsuit by Texas and other states challenging Obamacare's health insurance protections for patients with pre-existing conditions, such as cancer, diabetes and Parkinson's.

Political scientists have developed several reliable measures of judicial ideology that place the justices on a single left-to-right scale. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg earned $25,000 as a visiting fellow to Stanford University previous year. "The other thing to think about is that maybe [Chief] Justice Roberts and Justice Alito are interested in the Second Amendment, but the hold-up was Justice Kennedy".

Start with Kennedy. In 2004, he joined Justice Sandra Day O'Connor's governing opinion in Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, which upheld the military detention of a USA citizen captured on an Afghanistan battlefield, but only because global law had long accepted such detention of enemy forces as an incident of war. His wife is a town manager and earns $66,000 a year for a combined household income of $313,000 a year - more than four times the American average - before investment income is taken into account. So, moving the median to the right will shift the ideological position of the majority coalition on many cases.

Pogba urges France to avenge Euros defeat
Paul Pogba hopes to add a star to his France shirt by winning the World Cup, two decades after their only triumph in 1998. Deschamps himself was mobbed by members of his coaching team.

"I can't think of a more concrete example of what it means to be a "lawyer's lawyer" than Brett Kavanaugh", McCarthy said.

The 53-year-old Kavanaugh has served as a federal judge for 12 years. Any future similar fights before Kavanaugh could be meaningful.

The degree to which a paper trail can help and hurt a nominee depends, in part, on what type of writing is available.

Still, with gun control advocates mobilized following February's deadly mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, the court may instead take aim at more modest measures, like one that may be headed to the justices from New York City this fall. "I expect his confirmation to go well".

Is it unusual for a group like the Federalist Society to carry so much influence in this process? Kavanaugh's jurisprudence will be a corrective to this trend.

What is relatively new this year is the influence that the Federalist Society had (through Leonard Leo) in the construction of the list of potential nominees that the president made public during the campaign.

Russian diplomat, Hamas leader discuss situation in Gaza Strip
The crackdown includes the closing of Gaza's lone commercial crossing, at Kerem Shalom, for an indefinite period of time. Translation: If Hamas continues in this direction, these decisions will continue and will intensify.

Ironically, those Senate gains would make it easier to confirm a very conservative Trump nominee after the midterms. He was more empathetic to how a prosecution could interfere with presidential duties.

Ingraham said that Democrats will create "viral drama" in order to turn out their base and "slash away" at a "perfectly competent" pick like Kavanaugh.

I do. That's not to say it won't be hard.

But when the Supreme Court had the shot to decide the issue in 2015, it declined.

Republicans hold a 51-49 majority in the Senate.

But the Senate's top Republican, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, hailed a "superb choice" in Kavanaugh and urged senators to "put partisanship aside".

England V. Croatia, Winner Will Play France
And the Liverpool defender cheekily said that it has something to do with the parents across the country. If England advance to the final they will face France on Sunday at 5pm. "That speaks volumes in itself".

During the Gorsuch vote, three Democrats from conservative states ended up siding with Republicans, and a question now is whether they will support Kavanaugh.
