US President Donald Trump said he apologised to Prime Minister Theresa May today over his bombshell interview with a British tabloid, in which he claimed she had ignored his advice on Brexit and praised former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson's potential as a possible premier.
Last Sunday the Brexit Secretary resigned from the Cabinet, citing concerns at Mrs May's approach to European Union negotiations, with the Foreign Secretary also relinquishing his title just 15 hours later.
Trump told The Sun that such a deal "will probably kill" any prospect of a U.S. -U.K. free-trade agreement.
"I said (to Theresa May), "Make sure you have a carve out, you have to have a carve out" where no matter what happens they have the right to make a deal with the United States", Trump said in the interview.

In his joint press conference with Mrs May on Friday, President Trump appeared to row back on an earlier newspaper interview in which he said the Government's latest proposals would kill off the prospect of a deal with the US.
Some Conservative lawmakers have cast May's "business-friendly" Brexit plan as a betrayal that would leave Britain too close to the European Union and warned that she might face a leadership challenge.
Trump's comments have overshadowed a visit where the president was greeted with British pomp and ceremony - the lavish gala dinner in his honor at Blenheim Palace last night - even as protesters tried to rain on the parade.

London activists were highly involved in arrangements for protests against Trump's four-day visit to the UK.
