WhatsApp now lets group admins restrict messages in groups

So, WhatsApp for iOS is getting another update that adds a couple of new features and improvements aimed at group admins. With the most recent update, administrators of a group could no longer remove the group's creator. You can download WhatsApp Messenger from the App Store for free. Similar to a feature offered by Telegram, this gives administrators the ability to be the only users in a group capable of sending messages... This setting is rolling out to all users around the world on the latest supported versions of the app.

WhatsApp has rolled out yet another feature which will allow only the administrators of a group to send messages.

If Italy blocks a joint statement on these other important issues, the entire European Union summit would be rendered ineffective. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has described migration as the bloc's most hard and important issue.

Admins can go to "Group Settings" and toggle the "Send Messages" option to choose if all participants can send messages in the group or only admin (s). The group then basically becomes a one-way stream, where a small number of admins can broadcast to an audience up to 256 users. "We've introduced this setting so admins can have better tools for these cases", WhatsApp said on its website. One way people use groups is to receive important announcements and information, including parents and teachers at schools, community centers, and non-profit organisations. Additionally, if the latter option is chosen, an "Only admins can send messages" prompt will replace the message field.

Once the feature is enabled, users will also be able to configure it using WhatsApp Web.
