Chris Pratt and Priyanka Chopra were set to star, with Game of Thrones and Westworld director Michelle MacLaren helming the story about a new type of assassin who manifests the toughest skills of three different personas - that of cowboy, ninja and viking. It was adapted by Dan Mazeau ("Wrath of the Titans") and Ryan Engle ("The Commuter").

Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the two guys behind the Deadpool movie scripts and Zombieland, wrote the screenplay for Cowboy Ninja Viking, with newer drafts turned in by Hangover 2 and Identity Theft writer Craig Mazin. VP of production Sara Scott will oversee production on behalf of the studio.
