Woman helps man short on cash, finds out he's Keith Urban


Everyone needs a little help sometimes, including country star Keith Urban.

Ruth Reed told NBC she picked up Urban's tab at the Medford, N.J. Wawa.

"And he said, 'What's your name?' (I said), 'Ruth, '" she said.

The substitute teacher had made a resolution to help people at her local convenience store, and jumped at the chance when the man ahead of her was short a few dollars.

"It was then I realized what an idiot I was", she said, according to the AP.

A substitute teacher in New Jersey who thought she was helping a down and out man by paying for his cup of coffee, turn out to be country music star Keith Urban.

Reed said Urban stuck $5 in the donation box at the register and happily took a picture with her. "I said, 'Yeah, well if you're Keith Urban, where is Nicole (Kidman, his wife) and who is that woman you were with?' He said 'It's my sister, let's go ask her.' My snippy words were, 'Yes, I'm sure she wouldn't lie to an old lady.' I was so sure he was just yanking my chain".

She overheard Urban ask a companion for $5 and said he looked like he could use some help. She turned to his bodyguard who confirmed that he was indeed Keith Urban.

But word Facebook is fishing for financial information comes amid concerns it has not vigilantly guarded private information. A JPMorgan spokesperson said that the company is not sharing its customers' transaction details with these third parties.

"And he really could have said, 'Lady, get away from me!'" she said.

"Being at the right place at the right time and too stupid to recognize Keith Urban when you see him".

Reed has been getting a lot of attention the last couple days about her interaction with Urban and says the only reason she agreed to talk with us about it on camera is to try and inspire other people to also do acts of kindness.
